Any recommendations for hidden gems near Thonburi Hospital for a quick, tasty lunch between appointments? I'm thinking something local and maybe a bit spicy...

ngl the stalls right out front are fine but the real move is walking about 3 mins down the soi behind the hospital, there's a muslim lady with a cart selling roti and massaman curry, she's been there for like 20 years. the curry is thick and nutty with a nice slow burn, not that instant spicy stuff, and she'll give you extra pickled ginger if you ask. plus the roti is made fresh right there, so it's still warm and flaky when you get it. costs like 50 baht and you can grab it to go if you're on a tight schedule

oh man, if you want spicy and local, skip the main road stalls and duck into the soi next to the 7-eleven, there's a cart that does som tam to order, the lady will ask "pet mak?" and if you say yes she'll go full thai spice on you, legit makes your nose run but it's so worth it, plus they have sticky rice and grilled chicken right there

the hainanese chicken rice place on the corner of soi thonburi 13 is my go-to. it's not spicy but they have this insane chili sauce on the side that'll wake u up. the chicken is super tender and the rice is fragrant with ginger, about 45 baht. they're usually done by 1pm so get there before noon if u can

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
