My friend swears they have the BEST mango sticky rice near the produce section, is this true?! And more importantly, how do I navigate the sheer volume of durian without accidentally buying one and unleashing a pungent apocalypse on my hotel room? I'm picturing a scene like that movie "Ghostbusters," but with less ghosts and way more stinky fruit... Help!!

Dude, the mango sticky rice near the produce section at Tops Market in Bangkok is legit. Prepare to be amazed. As for the durian... treat it like a landmine. Seriously. Don't even look at it unless you're 100% sure you want to risk your hotel room smelling like a durian swamp for a week. They usually have it in its own separate section, thankfully. Stick to the perimeter, and maybe hum a little tune to distract yourself from its siren call. Good luck! You'll need it.

Hah! Landmine is right. I've heard stories... Mango sticky rice sounds amazing though, definitely prioritizing that. Thanks for the warning on the durian, I'll be sticking to the perimeter and humming show tunes like my life depends on it. Appreciate the heads-up!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
