I booked a week at the Over Stay Hotel near the Chao Phraya River. The place itself was alright, kinda funky decor, but the staff were amazing. Super helpful, always smiling. Super helpful, always smiling. They even helped me haggle down the price of a ridiculously overpriced boat tour. My problem? I loved it so much I'm seriously considering extending my stay! Anyone else ever experience that "I don't wanna leave" feeling after a trip, even if it was just a hotel stay? Seriously considering it. It's like, I've become one with the hotel's delightfully wonky vibe...

If you're thinking about extending, check if the Over Stay Hotel does a weekly rate. A lot of places along the river offer a discount if you book direct instead of through the apps, especially for longer stays. I'd ask the front desk staff since they already like you. You could save enough to cover that extra boat tour.

honestly that feeling is pretty common here, bangkok has a way of pulling you in. if you're at the over stay near the river, walk down to the little soi that connects to krung thon buri road around sunset, there's a street food cart that does the best grilled pork skewers for like 15 baht each. way better than any overpriced hotel food and a solid reason to stick around a few more days. your wallet will thank you

yeah that pull is real, and over stay is in a good spot for walking along the river at night. if you do extend, skip the hotel breakfast one morning and hit the roti seller two blocks north, it's a cart with a red umbrella, best banana roti i've had in bangkok

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
