Rows and rows of stuff, like a giant, slightly less-organized Costco. I found what I needed eventually, but seriously, navigating that place felt like a quest! Anyone got any pro-tips for efficiently shopping at Makro? I felt like I was wandering aimlessly for hours.

ngl the biggest game changer for me was learning the aisle numbering system. theres a big sign hanging from the ceiling right when you walk in that shows which numbers correspond to what categories. makes it way easier to skip the random wandering. also if you're buying in bulk for a party check the "hot deals" section near the front, they rotate stuff weekly and sometimes have random gems like 50% off imported cheese or giant bags of frozen chicken wings. just watch the expiry dates on those deals, sometimes they're clearing out stuff thats about to turn

I think the key is just accepting you're gonna spend at least an hour in there, no way around it. I usually start at the back wall with dry goods and work my way forward in a zigzag, that way you cover most aisles without backtracking too much.

honestly the trick is to go during off-peak hours like a tuesday morning. the aisles are way less chaotic and you can actually see the shelf labels without getting bumper car'd by a dozen carts. also skip the checkout lines near the entrance, the ones deeper in the store by the bakery are usually shorter. and if you're buying fresh stuff check the dates on the packs near the back, they rotate stock from the front first

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
