ngl the best thing on si phraya isn't even on the main road. cut through trok sanchao, it's a tiny alley behind the river city mall. there's a muslim lady selling sate from a cart around 4pm, she's been there for decades. the peanut sauce is thick and homemade, not that watery stuff. 10 sticks for like 40 baht and you'll see construction guys crushing it right there on the curb. the flower market is cool but bring cash for these little spots, none of them take card

yeah the roti guy is legit but honestly the real move is the khao tom place a bit further down, it's open super early like 5am and packed with taxi drivers having their breakfast soup before the shift. no english menu just a lady with a big pot, point at whatever looks good

The real trick on Si Phraya is finding the places that don't even bother with a sign in English. Just past the intersection with Charoen Krung, there's a small soi on the left with a roti vendor who sets up around 11am. His stall has a faded yellow cart and the queue is mostly office workers from the nearby buildings. Grab the roti with egg and banana, it's about 25 baht and way better than anything you'd get around the river.

For a proper lunch, head toward the end near the river and look for a shophouse with blue metal chairs spilling onto the sidewalk. They do a killer khao moo daeng with crispy pork belly that's been roasting since 6am. The owner doesn't speak much English but he'll point at the hanging meat and you just nod. Most tourists walk right past it because there's no sign, just a steam tray and a grandma slicing pork.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
