Makro Madness?

Been hearing stories, some say it's a shopper's paradise, others say it's a logistical nightmare. My question is: what's the best strategy for navigating Makro on a busy Saturday? I'm picturing myself lost in a sea of pallets, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff. Any tips from fellow Makro veterans? I'm thinking maybe a detailed map or a secret route to avoid the crowds... Maybe even a local guide to which sections are best hit first?

The key is to treat the layout like a clock and work counterclockwise. Start at the back left near the kitchenware, because that section is always dead quiet and you can grab a flatbed cart before they're all gone. From there, hit the dry goods aisle along the far wall, then loop through the frozen section around 10am when they've finished restocking the imported stuff. If you need fresh produce, skip the front bins and go straight to the back corner by the dairy fridge, that's where they keep the less picked-over herbs and vegetables. Bring your own bags too, the ones they sell at checkout are flimsy and rip halfway to the car.

honestly the produce section is the biggest trap there. everyone piles in at the front grabbing the obvious stuff but the back corner near the dairy fridge has way better herbs and the greens are actually fresher cause they stock from the back. also if you need meat the far left wall by the frozen seafood has a separate butcher counter that nobody seems to notice, they'll cut stuff to order while you wait and it's cheaper than the pre-packaged stuff up front. grab a flatbed cart from the kitchenware section first, the ones at the entrance are always gone by 9am and you'll be dragging a handbasket around like a chump

Yeah, Makro on a Saturday... that's a whole other level. Forget a secret route, you need a battle plan. Seriously. Go early, like ridiculously early. Think 7am early. The sheer volume of people later in the day is insane.

Grab a trolley immediately, don't even think about browsing first. You'll be stuck. Stick to your list religiously; otherwise, you'll end up wandering aimlessly for hours, buying stuff you don't need.

And the layout... it's a maze. But those little maps they have near the entrance? They're actually kinda helpful. Use one. Seriously.

Also, be prepared for some serious wheel-to-wheel combat in the aisles. It's not pretty. And bring water. You'll need it. Think of it like a raid, but instead of loot, you get discounted toilet paper. Good luck!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
