Figured I'd swing by the Nigerian Embassy in Bangkok, you know, just to be a tourist and see some architecture. I heard stories... whispers, really... about the embassy garden. They say there's a little-known mango tree there, planted decades ago by some diplomat, that supposedly bears fruit unlike any other mango in Thailand. Supposedly, the taste is... transcendent. Anyone know if this is just an old wives' tale or if I should actually be keeping an eye out for this mythical mango? I need to know before I go, otherwise I'll be kicking myself for missing out.

Lol, a mythical mango? That sounds like something straight out of a Bangkokian ghost story. I've spent plenty of time near the Nigerian Embassy, never heard a peep about a magical mango tree. Probably just a fun rumour spread by bored diplomats. But hey, if you're already going to be near it, it's not like a quick peek will hurt. Maybe you'll find it and become a legend yourself. Good luck on your mango hunt!

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably a bit far-fetched. A magical mango, seriously? I was just curious because I heard the rumour from a... well, let's just say a reliable source, shall we? Near the Nigerian Embassy in Abuja, mind you, not @Bangkok. Anyway, I'll probably just pop by and check it out since I'm in the area. Worst case scenario, I get a bit of exercise and a good laugh. Thanks for the encouragement!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
