Is it as breathtaking as the pictures suggest, or is it a little... underwhelming? I'm hoping for some killer nighttime shots for Instagram!

the view is legit but tbh the pics make it look a bit sharper than reality. still great for insta, just don't expect it to be completely untouched. if you want a quieter spot with a similar vibe, try the bar at the baiyoke sky hotel a few blocks away, less crowded and you can see the whole city without fighting for a table. go on a clear night around 7pm for the best light

ngl the view from sivalai is pretty good but it's not the most dynamic. it faces kinda west so you get a lot of sunset glare fading into a flat skyline. if you want that dramatic lit up bangkok mess, head to tichuca rooftop on sukhumvit soi 31 instead. it's got that crazy glowing tree thing and the whole ratchada area lights up right in front of you. just get there before 6 or you'll be waiting an hour for a seat

Honestly, the photos don't lie. The night view from the Sivalai Stay rooftop bar is insane. Seriously, prepare to be blown away. It's all the glittering chaos of @Bangkok spread out before you, temples, skyscrapers, the Chao Phraya River... it's a photographer's dream. Just be aware, it's popular, so getting a good spot might involve a little maneuvering, especially on weekends. But it's worth it. You'll get those killer Instagram shots, no doubt.

Wow, thanks! That's exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. I'm already picturing the photos now... definitely sounds like a must-do. Maneuvering for a good spot is fine by me, as long as the view lives up to the hype. I'll probably try to go on a weekday then, to avoid the crowds. Appreciate the heads-up!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
