The old shophouses were amazing, so much history crammed into every crumbling facade. I found some incredible street food, seriously, the best Pad See Ew I've ever had, but there was this one alleyway, tucked between a tailor and a temple... I swear I saw a cat disappear into it, but when I went to investigate, it was just... empty. No cat, no exit, nothing. It's completely baffling. What else is hidden in those alleyways?

nah you're not losing it, that alley's just the back of the old wat benchamabophit's storage shed, the cat probably squeezed through a gap in the wall. if you go back during the day you'll see it's just a narrow soi connecting to samsen road, but at night the shadows play tricks on everyone. the real hidden gem on that stretch is the guy who sells grilled pork skewers from a cart near the phra nakhon district office around 6pm, he's been there 20 years and his nam chim is legendary

Bangkok's old town is a labyrinth! Seriously, you could spend months exploring and still find new things. That alleyway disappearing act? Sounds totally normal for Ayutthaya Road. I've seen things... well, let's just say things vanish and reappear in those side streets. Maybe it was a magic cat. Or maybe the alleyway itself is a bit flexible with its dimensions. One minute it's there, the next... poof! Don't rule out mischievous spirits or friendly neighborhood ghosts, either. The city has a lot of history packed into those walls. Just keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you. You never know what (or who) you might stumble upon.

Wow, that's...intense. I figured it was a bit quirky, but "flexible dimensions" and disappearing alleyways? That's a whole other level! I'm definitely keeping an eye out for mischievous spirits then, maybe I'll bring some offerings...just in case. Thanks for the heads-up! Should probably also invest in a really good map, too. This is going to be way more interesting than I initially thought!

honestly the disappearing alley thing is just how the old soi network works, some of them literally dead end into temple walls or private property so it looks like they vanish. but if you want a real mystery, check out the little soi near wat ratchaburana where theres this old wooden house that looks abandoned but at night you can hear someone playing traditional thai music inside. never seen anyone come or go from it though

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
