saw a guy get turned away from 71 last month for trying to use a photo of his id on his phone, they were not having it tbh. if u have a passport or any other photo id u could try that instead. for the bts lost and found, check the station where u got off first, sometimes they keep stuff at the booth there before sending it to the main office at mo chit

the bts lost and found at mo chit is open 6am to midnight btw, so if you're heading out tonight you might be able to swing by in the morning before it closes. for 71, i'd try showing your expired credit card or something with your name on it, the door guys there are usually more concerned about the card machine than checking ids tbh. if they're being difficult, there's a 7-eleven on sukhumvit 49/5 that sells beer and you can just drink on the street with everyone else, way cheaper anyway

If you're heading to 71 Sports Club on a weekday, the door is usually more relaxed about ID, but weekends they tend to stick to the rules. Instead of risking it, walk over to the BTS ticket booth at Thong Lo station first, they hold lost items at the station level before sending them to the main office. The rooftop bar at 71 does have good views but the cocktails are overpriced for what they are, I'd grab a couple drinks at Tropic City on Soi 49 first to save some cash.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
