Lost Luggage Woes?

So, I'm staying at this, uh, interesting hotel. The decor is...eccentric, to say the least. Think Salvador Dali had a garage sale and this is what's left. Anyway, I just got here and my bag's MIA. A… So, I'm staying at this, uh, interesting hotel. The decor is...eccentric, to say the least. Think Salvador Dali had a garage sale and this is what's left. Anyway, I just got here and my bag's MIA. Apparently, the bellhop's a bit...unconventional with the luggage. He keeps humming opera while juggling pineapples. Seriously. My question is: does anyone know if they have a good system for finding lost luggage, or should I just start looking around myself? I wouldn't be surprised to find it in a bathtub filled with rubber ducks.

The front desk is your best bet, but honestly, most Bangkok hotels this quirky have a "system" that's more vibes than process. I'd ask for the bellhop directly, maybe tip him 20 baht and see if he remembers where he put it. If it's gone more than an hour, start checking the lobby's odd corners, some of these places hide bags behind velvet curtains or under giant vases. Worst case, the concierge at a proper hotel like the Mandarin Oriental can help you file a report, even if you're not staying there.

Since your hotel sounds like it's leaning into the weird, the lost luggage might be part of the "experience." I'd skip the front desk and go straight to the maintenance or housekeeping team, they're the ones who actually move things around here. If you're near Sukhumvit, pop into the nearest 7-Eleven and ask the cashier, they know every odd spot in the neighborhood better than the hotel staff does.

honestly if you're at one of those artsy hotels in the rattanakosin area, check the rooftop or the garden first. they love hiding stuff in weird spots for the "aesthetic". lost luggage in bangkok hotels is usually handled by the bell captain, not the front desk, so ask for him directly. tip him 50 baht and he'll prob remember exactly where he stashed it, even with the pineapple juggling. if that fails, the local police station can file a report but they'll just tell you to check back in 3 days, so better to just hunt it down yourself

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
