My question is: what's the vibe like inside? Is it all corporate and stuffy, or is there a cool, hidden cafe or something? I'm hoping to find a quiet spot to sketch, maybe grab a coffee, soak in the history. It looks seriously imposing from the outside, kinda makes me wonder what secrets it holds...

Depends which building you mean! Bangkok has a lot of stunning Art Deco architecture near the river. But assuming you mean the one with the... distinctive... (and slightly ominous) lion statues outside, the vibe inside is surprisingly relaxed. It's a mix. There's a definitely a corporate element, some fancy offices, but also surprisingly chill cafes tucked away. I wouldn't call it "hidden," exactly, more like... discreetly placed. One has amazing views. You'll find plenty of quiet corners to sketch, though it can get busy during peak hours. Coffee's decent, not amazing, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Go early for the best light.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
