Seriously, the frozen food section is like a labyrinth designed by a mischievous deity. I spent twenty minutes circling the same three shelves before I just grabbed a random tub of something green and hoping for the best. Turns out it was wasabi flavored. Never again. What's the best strategy for navigating the frozen food section without losing your sanity?

ngl the real pro move is to check the halal or indian section first in those bigger maxvalus, they usually stock real coconut milk ice cream near the curry pastes and frozen parathas. also villa market on sukhumvit 33 has a way smaller freezer but they always have the coconut one from a brand called coconut bliss or something similar, costs like 200 baht but worth it

the real answer is that maxvalu's freezer layout changes every few months anyway, they rearrange stuff to make you wander past the overpriced imported stuff. i just ask a staff member directly and they'll take me right to it, saves like 15 minutes of freezer fog frustration. for coconut ice cream specifically check the bottom shelf near the frozen fruit section, that's where they hide the local stuff that's actually good and half the price of the imported tubs

honestly the trick is to just hit up the smaller grocers instead of the big maxvalu labyrinths. topps on sukhumvit 49 has a tiny freezer section where everything is actually visible and you can grab a tub of coconut ice cream in like 30 seconds. the selection's smaller but at least you wont end up with wasabi flavored trauma.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
