A local SIM is the workaround most people figure out eventually. TrueMove has a booth at the airport arrivals hall, about 300 baht for 15GB that lasts 8 days, and it works fine even by the pool. The concrete walls in those older Sukhumvit-area buildings are brutal on Wi-Fi signals, so it's not just you.

The building structure is definitely the culprit, those old Bangkok apartment blocks have absurdly thick concrete. If you come back, grab a DTAC tourist SIM from the 7-Eleven on Ratchada Soi 3, it's about 200 baht for 7 days and you'll get 4G in the pool area no problem.

ngl the wifi there has been a known issue for years, i think it's the thick concrete walls and the way they laid out the router placements. if you're going back, just grab a true move sim from the 7-eleven on sivalai road, like 300 baht for a month of decent data, way less hassle than fighting with their signal

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
