The bar fine is where the real negotiation happens, not the drinks. Most places on Soi Cowboy have set prices for beers and mixers, usually around 140-180 baht, and trying to talk that down will just confuse the staff. But if you want to take a girl out of the bar, the standard fine is typically 600-1000 baht depending on the place, and that's where you can sometimes ask if it includes the lady's drink or work out a longer time. Just keep it friendly and low key, nobody's going to get offended if you ask politely. The whole scene is less aggressive than people think once you're actually there.

ngl the drink prices are pretty much set, but the real thing nobody mentions is the "off fee" or bar fine, which can vary between 300 and 1000 baht depending on the gogo and the time of night. some of the smaller bars on the end near Asoke will negotiate that down if it's late and they're slow, but the bigger spots like baccara or tilac are pretty firm. also, a lot of the girls will try to get you to buy them a "lady drink" every 20 minutes, which is where they get commission, so just pace yourself and say no if you're not interested

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
