Bangkok Beat Hotel Quirks?

The whole vibe was super cool, all vintage and artsy. I spent hours just wandering the hallways, checking out the faded photos and crazy graffiti. It felt like a museum, but you could sleep there too! My only issue was the wifi, it was, shall we say, sporadic. Some floors had great connection, others... nothing. Anyone else experience this rollercoaster of internet access? Was it always like that, or did I just get unlucky?

ngl the wifi thing is pretty consistent across most floors, but if u need a solid connection the lobby's actually decent. i've noticed the 4th floor is like a dead zone for some reason, maybe avoid that one if u can. also, if the shower pressure's weak, just run it for a minute and it usually sorts itself out, weird quirk but it works

haha yeah the wifi thing is a known quirk, but honestly the real gamble there is the aircon. some rooms have those old units that sound like a dying motorbike but blast cold air, others are dead silent and barely cool the room. i stayed on the 5th floor once and had to sleep with the window open just to get airflow, which is rough with the soi dog barking all night. if you're booking again, ask for a room facing the river, the breeze helps a ton

fwiw the wifi's been flaky since they opened, it's not just you. the old building has these thick concrete walls that just kill the signal, plus they never bothered with proper cabling. if you're really stuck, the 7-11 two streets over has surprisingly fast free wifi, grab a chang and sit on the curb, it's a whole vibe

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
