I popped into a 7-Eleven at like, 2 AM after a night out in Bangkok. Needed a proper energy drink, not that sugary garbage they sell everywhere else. Found it! But then...the self-checkout wouldn't scan my ridiculously overpriced ramen. Employee finally helped, dude looked like he'd seen it all before. Seriously though, what's the deal with those self-checkouts? They're always messing up. Is there some sort of secret society of malfunctioning self-checkout machines? Or am I just cursed?

ngl the self-checkout thing is a universal Bangkok experience, it's like the machines have a vendetta against anyone holding a warm beer. i usually just skip the self-service entirely and queue for the human cashier, they're way faster at that hour anyway. if you're near the sukhumvit area, the family mart on soi 11 tends to have less chaos at 2am, the staff there are legends

Dude, total Bangkok midnight mood. Those 7-Eleven self-checkouts are always a gamble. I swear they're programmed to malfunction specifically when you're fueled by questionable decisions and caffeine. It's a rite of passage. Embrace the chaos. Next time, just go to the counter, less drama, more instant ramen.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
