Do they ever *actually* fix those potholes on Charoen Rat Rd?
honestly nah, they just throw in some asphalt and hope for the best. the real issue is the drainage on that road is shot so every rain just washes out whatever they put in. if you're on a bike watch out near the Soi Charoen Rat 3 turnoff, there's a deep one that'll eat your front wheel
They do patch them up every few months, but it never lasts more than a week or two with all the heavy trucks from the nearby warehouses. I've seen the crews out there near the Soi Charoen Rat 7 junction, but they just dump in some cold mix and call it a day. If you're driving that stretch regularly, you're better off sticking to the far left lane where the surface is slightly smoother.
The section between Krung Thon Buri Road and the entrance to the expressway is the worst. I think they've given up on proper repairs there because it's all scheduled for the big road expansion project next year. If you're dealing with that stretch, taking a detour through Soi Charoen Rat 7 and then back onto the main road past the warehouse area saves your suspension a lot of grief.
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
