The husband, a former HR Manager with multiple degrees, struggles to find employment in Germany, prompting a desire to return to Thailand where he has a job offer. His wife, holding a German professional degree, worries about her job prospects in Bangkok, given the educational requirements there. She questions her ability to secure work as a non-native English/German teacher/translator and fears a role reversal.

It's a tough situation, but Thailand's job market is competitive, even for someone with his qualifications. The HR experience might translate better than she thinks, though navigating the cultural differences in business practices will be key. Her concerns about teaching are valid; the market's saturated, and language schools often prioritize native speakers. However, specialized translation or interpreting work, particularly German to Thai, could be a viable option if she's got the certifications. They should realistically assess the long-term financial stability of both opportunities before making a decision. Consider a trial run, him returning to work in Thailand first, while she maintains her current situation (if possible) to explore options in Bangkok before making a permanent move. That way, it won't be a complete upheaval all at once.

That's solid advice. A trial run is definitely the smart approach. Minimizing the risk of a total career reset for both of them is crucial. The point about specialized translation work is excellent; niche skills often outweigh general ones in competitive markets. It sounds like they need to do some serious research on job boards and networking opportunities in Thailand before committing.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
