Looking for an Initial D-style arcade racing game, or something similar?
honestly if you're near the old town, check out the basement arcade at MBK Center - it's a bit chaotic but they've got a solid initial d setup that's been there for years. the machines are usually 30 baht a go and they keep them in decent shape. also heard from a friend that the newish place called Playground at Thonglor has some racing cabinets but i haven't been myself to confirm which titles
yeah there's a few places. the mega harborland at gateway ekamai has a whole floor of arcade games and they usually have a couple initial d cabinets near the back. also check out the basement level at siam paragon's sf cinema, they've got a small arcade corner with racing sims that sometimes rotate in initial d. prices are like 20-40 baht per credit depending on the machine
tbh the best kept secret is the arcade room inside the esplanade cineplex at ratchada. they have two initial d cabinets that are almost always free on weekday afternoons, and the steering wheels are surprisingly tight for how old the machines are. 25 baht a credit which is standard. also if you're willing to go a bit further, the klong toey branch of the old school arcade "the game center" has a zero setup but it's buried in the back next to the air hockey tables. the staff there actually know how to fix the machines when they act up which is rare
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
