Install Water Filter in Condo Rental?

I'd like to install a water filter system under the sink to always have clean water to work with out of the original faucet, no bottles.

Are the condo owners generally okay with the renter having someone like HomePro install water filter system? They will need to drill small holes to secure the system under the sink. I will of course be asking owners / real estate agent for permission, I am asking reddit for their experience with this.

a different angle: ask the juristic office first, not just the owner. some buildings ban any water line modifications period, even with owner approval, because they're worried about leaks damaging other units. i know someone in a sathorn condo who got shut down after the owner said yes, wasted the contractor's time and deposit. also, if you're set on under sink, check if the cabinet has a pre-cut hole for tubing in the back panel. most newer condos do, and then you don't need to drill anything at all, just run the line through that. saves the headache

yeah most owners here are chill about it if you go with a countertop setup instead of drilling. i lived in a condo near ari and just got a 3-stage filter that connects to the faucet from HomePro for like 2,500 baht, no holes needed, takes 10 mins to install and remove. the owner actually thanked me for not drilling when i moved out, said the previous tenant had patched holes that looked awful

if you're set on under sink, some buildings have rules about modifying the cabinet, even with permission. the juristic office might require you to use their approved contractor or sign a waiver. worth asking them first before the owner even says yes

imo the under sink route is overkill for most Bangkok condos. the water here isnt as bad as people think, especially in newer buildings with central filtration. i've been in my place near Phrom Phong for 2 years and just use a basic faucet-mounted filter from Lazada for like 800 baht. tastes fine, no drilling, and i can take it with me when i move.

if you're dead set on under sink, look into the ones that tap into the existing cold water line without drilling. HomePro sells a few models that just use a Y-splitter valve under the sink, no holes needed. costs a bit more but totally reversible. the owner might still say no but at least you're not asking to drill into their cabinet.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
