Where can I find an oven to bake something?

bake a wish is solid but if u want something even cheaper, check out the community kitchen at w district on sukhumvit 77. it's a bit further into on nut but they have a proper oven and it's free for residents, though u might need to know someone who lives there to get in. failing that, the bake space at seacon square is like 50 baht for 30 mins, just take the bts to on nut then a short taxi ride

If you're up for a short ride, the cooking school at Samitivej Hospital on Sukhumvit 49 has a surprisingly affordable rental kitchen. It's part of their wellness program, so it's 100 baht per hour and they have proper convection ovens. You just need to book a day ahead through their main desk, and they'll let you use the space even if you're not taking a class. The hospital grounds are quiet and there's free parking if you come by motorbike.

Try checking out Co-Creative Space on Sukhumvit 71, just a short walk from Phra Khanong BTS. They have a kitchen you can rent by the hour for around 150-200 baht, and it's usually pretty quiet on weekday afternoons. The Line's communal kitchen is nice but this place is more practical if you just need an oven for a few hours.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
