The turbo longtail scene is mostly concentrated on canals that have long straight stretches where they can really open up. Klong Saen Saep between Pratunam and Bang Kapi is the main drag for the modified boats, especially around the Pantip Plaza stop where the drivers race each other between the piers. The best time is late afternoon when the water taxis are winding down and the guys with the souped up engines start doing impromptu runs. Just stand at the landing and ask for "rot hang" with a big engine, they'll know what you mean.

if you head to klong toei early in the morning like 6am, theres a bunch of guys hauling veggies on those things and they'll sometimes let you hop on for a few stops if you ask nicely. not as flashy as the modded ones but you get the full experience of them screaming through the narrow canals with a load of cabbage, pretty chaotic

yeah theres a spot near wat kalayanamit down in thonburi, this old dude named somchai builds them in his backyard. he'll take u for a spin for free if u bring him a pack of red marlboros. his boat has a turbocharged suzuki swift engine and he flies past the temple like a maniac, pretty wild experience

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
