Anything Good on Father's Day?

So I am a father who is sadly alone tomorrow.

I was wondering if anyone had heard of any interesting deals, promotions, or events exclusive to Father's Day tomorrow that a dad might want to check out…

If you're open to a bit of a drive, head over to the riverfront at Asiatique. The Skywalk by the Chao Phraya is quiet in the evening, and a few of the riverside restaurants like Baan Khanitha have set menu deals for Father's Day that are actually decent value. You can grab a table alone by the water, watch the ferries go by, and it's a lot less crowded than the Sukhumvit spots.

tbh most places don't do anything huge for father's day here, it's not really a thing like mother's day. but i'd check out the beer bars on sukhumvit soi 11, some of them do a "buy one get one" on drafts for dads if you mention it. also tichuca rooftop on soi 49 is usually pretty chill on weeknights and you can grab a drink alone without feeling weird, great view of the city

there's a japanese whisky bar on sukhumvit 24 called ku bar that's super quiet and the bartenders are really friendly, they might do a free pour for dads if you ask nicely. also central world is doing a "dad's day market" near the fountain with street food stalls and live music, nothing exclusive but it's a nice vibe to wander alone

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
