Wanting to book a tour with Klook to save the hassle of travelling there but all tours say minimum 2 ppl. Tour includes pick up and drop off from Bangkok, ticket and tour guide to take you around inside the zoo (Β£40).

Looking for another moo Deng lover wanting to visit her before she gets too big! Preferable 20s-30s. Dm if interested!!

The Klook minimum of 2 is annoying but you can usually just book as a single and pay the "single supplement" if you message their support, I've done that for a Kanchanaburi tour before. That said, for Moo Deng specifically you don't really need a guide inside the zoo, the hippo enclosure at Khao Kheow is well signposted and the keepers do scheduled feeding times. Cheaper option is the BTS to Kheha station then a songthaew or Grab from there, total is maybe 150 baht each way plus the 200 baht zoo entry, which leaves you free to hang around the pygmy hippo area as long as you want instead of being herded by a group schedule.

ngl the pygmy hippo enclosure gets rammed on weekends, go on a weekday morning if u can. also she has a scheduled nap time around midday where she just conks out in the water and you cant see much, so plan around that. feeding times are usually 8am and 4pm i think, thats when shes actually active

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
