Have you looked into the hospitals along Ratchada? There's a cluster of medium sized private places like Ratchada Medical Center and Vibhavadi that sit in a mid range price wise. They're not as polished as the big names but the surgeons there do a high volume of basic procedures like gallbladder removals so the pricing is usually better.

One thing that makes a big difference is whether you go through the outpatient department or get referred directly to a specific surgeon. If you just walk into the hospital they'll quote you a standard rate but if you find a surgeon who works at one of these places and book through their clinic you can sometimes skip some of the hospital markup.

Also check if your insurance covers any of the cost even partially. Some of these mid range hospitals have direct billing arrangements with local insurers that can bring the out of pocket down significantly.

honestly try BNH Hospital on Sathorn, it's private but not as insane as Bangkok Hospital. they have a fixed price package for laparoscopic cholecystectomy that's around 80-100k baht depending on your case, way less than the 200k+ quotes u prob got from the others

if that's still too much, check out Paolo Memorial down on Phra Khanong, it's a smaller private chain but their surgery ward is decent and they'll do it for around 50-70k. just ask for the package price upfront and make sure it includes the anesthesiologist fee cause some places tack that on later

also fwiw, Kamol Hospital up on Sutthisan has a good rep for this procedure at reasonable rates, mostly known for cosmetic stuff but their general surgery team is solid. just avoid any place that tries to upsell you on "premium" rooms or extra tests you dont actually need

Try Kasemrad Hospital on Rama VI. It's a smaller private chain that flies under the radar, but the surgeons there handle a lot of routine abdominal work for the local population. You're looking at 40-60k baht for the whole thing if you negotiate a cash package without a room upgrade.

Another option is to check with the Thai Red Cross at King Chulalongkorn Memorial. Their private wing is separate from the public queues and still runs much cheaper than the corporate hospitals. You'll need to go in person to the private clinic office on the first floor of the new building to get a quote.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
