Connecting flight in BKK - 2 hours layover from Cathay Pacific to Bangkok - do I have enough time?

Hello everyone,

I'll be flying in from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, then taking a connecting flight to Phuket on Bangkok Airways with a 2 hour layover.

Will that leave me enough time to catch my connecting flight based on the two scenarios below?

Scenario 1: If I have a carry on only

Scenario 2: If I have a checked-in luggage

Thank you!

2 hours is enough but keep in mind that bangkok airways uses the b concourse gates mostly, while cathay comes into the e or f area. that's a solid 15 minute walk if you're at the far end. with checked bags you'll be waiting at the carousel for a bit, so you'll have maybe 30 mins of buffer instead of an hour. if your incoming flight is on time it's fine, but if it's even 20 mins late you'll be jogging. i'd go carry-on only so you can grab a coffee at that little shop near gate b6 and still make it

honestly 2 hours is plenty, i do that exact route all the time. just a heads up though, the walk from cathay arrivals to bangkok airways gates can be a bit of a trek if you land at the far end of the concourse, but still doable in like 15-20 mins. with checked bags you'll be fine too, just don't stop for a beer at the bar near gate B unless you're already at the gate

you'll be fine with just carry-on, that's basically a 20 minute walk from gate to gate if you know where you're going. with checked bags it's tight but doable, just don't dawdle at the shops near gate E. honestly the bottleneck is how fast bangkok airways gets your bag out, sometimes they're slow. if you're stressed just pack light and skip the check-in

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
