Santa photos in Bangkok?

I will be in Bangkok for 4 days next week and wondering if there were any Santa photos I could get with my kids? Would love to mark our family holiday with a Bangkok Santa photo! Emporium on Sukhumvit also does a proper Santa setup most years, and it tends to be less chaotic than CentralWorld. The one at CentralWorld is impressive but the queue is a real time sink, especially with kids in tow. Another option is the Santa at ICONSIAM, they sometimes have one near the waterfront entrance, and you can make a day of it with the river views after. If you want zero fuss, check if your hotel offers a Santa visit, some of the bigger ones like the Mandarin Oriental or the Marriott do a breakfast with Santa thing in December, which is more of a private experience than the mall scrum.

Most of the big malls do the Santa setup, and CentralWorld usually has the most elaborate one, it's been there for years. You'll find it on the 7th floor near the kids' zone, and they charge around 300 baht per photo session, you can use your own phone or camera. The queue can get long on weekends, so if you can go on a weekday morning around 10am when the mall opens, you'll have it almost to yourself. Siam Paragon also does one, but it's smaller and often busier with tourists, I'd skip it unless you're already there.

yeah CentralWorld's the safest bet but honestly the one at the kids zone gets packed. i'd try the Santa at the Mandarin Oriental if you're staying anywhere near the river, they do a brunch thing that's way more chill and you get a photo without fighting crowds. otherwise grab one at CentralWorld but go early, like right when it opens.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
