Are there any Muscle bars/retaurant in Bangkok?

Like the ones in Japan or Taiwan. Can't seem to find any. Like the ones in Japan or Taiwan. Can't seem to find any.

yeah the only place i'd add is Big Boy Burger near Ekkamai, not explicitly a muscle bar but the owner is a competitive powerlifter and the menu has a build-your-own high protein burger option with egg whites and grilled chicken patties. the vibe is more diner than gym but you'll see a lot of lifters hanging there after training at the nearby gyms. also if you're on instagram look up bangkok_fit_food, they post about pop-up events that sometimes have that social posing energy you're after

honestly the muscle bar scene here is way more lowkey than japan's over-the-top vibe. there's Iron Bites near Asok which is more of a clean eating cafe but they have whey shakes and high protein pancakes, the owners are bodybuilders themselves so they get it. also if u want that tank top and posing energy just hit up Lumphini Park outdoor gym area around 5pm, guys bring their own protein shakers and it's basically a social club after lifts

You're not going to find the exact same vibe as Japan's muscle-themed spots, but Bangkok has some gym-adjacent cafes and restaurants that scratch the itch. Check out Fit Kitchen on Sukhumvit 39, it's a meal prep place with a small eat-in area where you'll see plenty of guys in tank tops post-workout. For something closer to the social scene you're thinking of, Muscle Factory near On Nut BTS has protein-heavy food and a supplement shop attached, though it's more functional than flashy.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
