Has anyone tried ServiceGenie or other handyman services? Any recommendations?

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

i used service genie once for a leaky faucet in my condo near thong lo. they showed up on time but the guy seemed rushed and didnt fully fix it lol. honestly i prefer asking around the local hardware store on sukhumvit 38, the staff there usually know a few reliable guys who work in the area for way less

yeah i used them for an electrical issue in my place near ekkamai. they charged 800 baht just for the callout fee which felt steep for a 15 min job. honestly ive had better luck with the FixFaz app, theyre a bit newer but the guys ive gotten through there actually spoke decent english and showed up with proper tools. service genie feels like theyre trying to be the grab of handymen but the quality control isnt there yet.

ServiceGenie and FixFaz mostly cater to the expat crowd, so their prices reflect that, typically ranging from 500 to 2000 baht per job. For smaller tasks like tightening loose screws or changing light bulbs, it's often cheaper to head to the Chatuchak Weekend Market, where you can find vendors selling handyman services for as low as 200 baht. Some of these vendors are quite skilled, and they're used to dealing with locals, so you'll likely get a more authentic experience, and possibly better value for your money, particularly if you're willing to venture outside the typical expat areas like Sukhumvit. The 52 Bus from Sukhumvit 38 to Mo Chit takes around 30 minutes, and it's a convenient way to get to the market.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
