Hi everyone,

I'm preparing for an interview with Agoda's Corporate Strategy team and was wondering if anyone here in Bangkok has recently interviewed for this role or knows someone who has.

I'd greatly appreciate any guidance on the interview process or the types of questions they typically ask. Insights on case studies, behavioral questions, or anything else would be super helpful!

Feel free to comment or DM me. Thanks in advance for your help!

honestly the corporate strategy team at agoda is pretty small and works super closely with the top brass so they're picky. from what i've heard from a friend who went through it, expect a heavy focus on the online travel industry dynamics, like how agoda competes with booking.com and expedia in asia specifically. they might give you a case about hotel supply optimization or pricing strategy in a city like bangkok or phuket, so brush up on basic unit economics and how OTAs make money per booking

also worth noting the office is near Sathorn Square, the vibe is quite international but they expect you to be sharp with numbers. the behavioral questions will prob dig into how you handle ambiguity since their projects change fast. don't overthink the prep, just know your frameworks and be ready to talk about why you want to work in travel tech specifically not just consulting

just went through a similar interview loop for a diff team there but chatted with someone on the strat team after. one thing nobody mentioned to me was that they really test your ability to synthesize data under time pressure, like they gave my friend a messy dataset on booking conversion rates by device type and asked for recommendations in 10 minutes. practice articulating your thought process out loud while looking at numbers on a screen, not just final answers

also fwiw their corporate strategy team sits on the same floor as the execs so they value conciseness a lot. if you ramble during case questions they'll cut you off. and dont forget to mention specific agoda products like cashback or points programs if you get a pricing case, they love hearing youve actually used the app

I've seen a few people go through that process over the years. One thing that caught me off guard when I prepped a friend for it was how much they care about your understanding of Southeast Asian travel patterns, not just generic OTA metrics. They'll want to know you get the seasonality around Songkran and Chinese New Year, and how that affects yield management in places like Khao San versus Sukhumvit.

Don't neglect the data questions either. They might ask you to walk through a spreadsheet on the spot, something about customer acquisition cost versus lifetime value for a new market like Vietnam. I'd practice reading a pivot table quickly and explaining what you'd do with the numbers. The office is right off the BTS at Chong Nonsi, so if you get to the in-person stage, grab a coffee at the lobby cafe beforehand to settle your nerves.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
