honestly for proper thai massage that actually works out the knots, skip the fancy places on sukhumvit and go to wat pho's massage school near the grand palace. they do the real deal there, like 300 baht for an hour and they'll crack your back in ways u didn't know possible. the massuese there are trained in the traditional style, not the spa version, so expect them to use elbows and knees on ur hamstrings

another option is health land on ekkamai, which is more consistent than most chains and their therapists actually get into the muscle layers instead of just rubbing oil on you. ask for a "traditional thai massage" not the "oil massage" and tell them to focus on pressure points. about 400-500 baht for 2 hours depending on time of day

if you want someone to actually wreck your knots not just give u a nice rub, try prachum thai massage near the bts on nut. its a tiny place run by older ladies who've been doing this for decades, no frills just a mat on the floor and they'll fold you like origami. 250 baht for an hour and they don't speak much english but they understand exactly where it hurts.

the key is telling them "jep jep" (means painful painful) when they hit a tight spot, they'll double down on it instead of backing off. most tourists don't know that and end up with a gentle session

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
