The grand palace is 500 baht which to me seems a bit overpriced. Will i be missing out if i check Wat Pho instead?

And at first i was considering Wat Arun as well, but i feel like visually it's not so pretty + hard to get to

If you're feeling temple fatigue, the Grand Palace will probably amplify it. It's a lot of walking through roped-off areas with tour groups shuffling through, and the 500 baht feels steep when you can get two very different temple experiences for less.

I'd do Wat Pho in the morning when it's quieter, then cross the river to Wat Arun around 4pm. That way you catch the late light hitting the porcelain tiles on the prang, which is genuinely striking in person. The ferry between them is a few baht and runs constantly from the Thonburi side.

Skip the Grand Palace for now. If you change your mind later, it's not going anywhere.

honestly the grand palace is worth it for the sheer scale and the emerald buddha temple inside, but 500 baht is a lot if temples are feeling samey to u. wat pho is way cheaper (300 baht) and has the huge reclining buddha plus the massage school if u want a real thai massage after. the compound feels less crowded too, more chill to wander.

wat arun is actually prettier up close than from across the river, and it's super easy to get to from wat pho - just take the ferry across for like 4 baht. the climb up the central prang is steep but gives u a killer view of the river and the grand palace. i'd skip the grand palace and do wat pho + wat arun in one afternoon, save the 500 baht for street food in banglamphu instead

The Grand Palace is a lot of gold and crowds, and if you're already bored with temples it might feel like a grind. Wat Pho has a different vibe, more about the details in the murals and the sheer size of that reclining buddha, plus it's easier to just sit in the courtyard and watch people.

For Wat Arun, you can see it fine from the Thonburi side without paying to go in, just take the orange flag boat from Sathorn pier for 15 baht and get off at Wat Arun pier. The view across the river at sunset is better than climbing the thing, and you save the 100 baht entry.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
