Any quiet cafe or co-working space near Thonglor?

Another option is One Ounce for All on Soi Thonglor 10. It's a small coffee bar that's usually dead quiet in the evenings, especially after 7pm. They close at 9pm though so it's tight if you need more than a couple hours.

If you're okay with a short walk from Thonglor BTS, Hobby House Cafe on Soi Sukhumvit 49 has a back room that's basically silent. It's mostly people reading or working on laptops. The coffee is decent and they don't rush you out.

honestly just go to Common Ground on Soi Thonglor 13, it's a proper co-working space not a cafe so you won't get the side-eye for camping out for hours. they have decent wifi and power outlets everywhere, plus it's open till midnight. a day pass is like 300 baht or something reasonable.

if you want free though, the second floor of The Commons has those big communal tables and it's usually pretty chill after 6pm when the lunch crowd clears out. just buy a drink from Roots coffee downstairs and you're set for a couple hours.

You could try Rocket Coffeebar on Soi Thonglor 9, it's tiny and not really a co-working space but I've seen people camp there with laptops for hours. The back corner table near the outlet is the sweet spot.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
