fwiw I'd check out the shops around Muay Thai Road in Bang Rak, there's a cluster of old-school gear places near the river that do hand stitching not just machine embroidery. the guy at Rajadamnern Stadium's pro shop does names for 200 baht too but only if you buy the trunks there. if your brother trains muay thai you might want to get his gym's name stitched on the back instead of the waist, holds up better during clinch work

honestly the best spot for this is Action Zone near Khao San, they do custom embroidery on site while you wait. most shops around there will charge around 100-200 baht per name depending on thread color and placement

another option is Fairtex's flagship store on Sukhumvit, they have a tailoring service upstairs but it takes a few days and costs more like 400-500 baht. if you're in a hurry just hit up the stalls at Chatuchak market on weekends, there's a guy near section 24 who does really clean work for 150 baht flat

There's a small shop called Yokkao on Soi Chokchai 4 that does custom stitching on their own brand of trunks, which are pretty popular with fighters. They charge around 300 baht for a name and it takes about a day, but the quality is noticeably better than what you get from the street stalls. I'd call ahead first since they're not always set up for walk-in embroidery work.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
