Hi! I'll be in Bangkok soon and I'm overwhelmed with the sheer number of markets and malls lol

Which ones are your favorite in terms of thrifting branded clothes, finding cheap, quality local clothes/accessories, and for buying small gifts like inhalers, herbal rubs, snacks, etc?

My area will be pretty close to Platinum and December's, but I've read Pratunam is good to source cheaper stuff and Bang Sue Junction for vintage things

I also collect perfume so recos for any local perfume houses, specific scents, or perfume stores are very much appreciated! I'm on the hunt for a good mango sticky rice perfume (so far have heard of Journal and Butterfly Thai)

honestly skip the tourist traps and hit up Talad Rot Fai Ratchada for thrifting, it's way more chill than Chatuchak and you can find some legit vintage denim if you're patient. for local perfume try Copenn in Siam Square, they do a scent called "Khao San" that's got that sticky rice vibe but with a spicy twist, way more wearable than the super sweet ones. grab your inhalers and herbal rubs at any Boots or Watsons near your hotel, they're all over the place and cheaper than the market stalls. if you're near Platinum already just wander into the side soi off Petchaburi Soi 15, there's a tiny shop that sells handwoven cotton scarves for like 100 baht each, perfect gifts without the mall markup.

The perfume collection at Siam Discovery has a few local brands you won't find at malls. Try the mango sticky rice scent from Mith, it's closer to the real thing than Butterfly Thai.

For thrifting definitely hit Chatuchak on weekends, the vintage section in the back has some gems if you dig deep. For that mango sticky rice scent, check out Siam Square there's a small shop called Panpuri that does a lovely version, way less touristy than Journal.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
