What/where is the skyscraper with the giant, oblong/oval shape built into the side of it? It looked sort of like the frame to a melting Dali clock or something. My partner and I saw it from the freeway once, briefly (too briefly to snap a pic) but I haven't been able to find it on google? It is NOT the Mahanakhon! It's something else.... I just can't figure out what??

Ah, so you spotted the Q Chidlom-Phetchaburi. That's the one with the weird oval cutout that looks like someone took a bite out of the building. It's part of a hotel and condo complex, right off the expressway near Asoke. That shape is actually a sky terrace and pool area, though from the highway it does look like a surreal art piece. If you ever drive that way again at night, the whole thing lights up in blue and it's even more striking.

yeah that one always throws people off. it's called "the Q" and honestly the oval thing is more dramatic from certain angles, like when you're coming from the tollway towards petchaburi road. the building itself has that giant hole in the middle with the pool and gardens, but from the highway it really does look like a melted clock or something. fun fact: theres a starbucks on the ground floor that does okay coffee if you wanna go check it out up close, but the view from the 8th floor pool deck is where it actually makes sense.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
