If you're near the On Nut BTS, there's a small plant nursery tucked behind the Soi 77/1 market that sells live aloe plants in pots. I've seen them there for around 60 baht, and you can just snap off leaves as needed.

there's a guy with a cart near the entrance of soi on nut 10 most mornings, he sells aloe straight from his garden in bang kapi. leaves are like 15 baht each and he'll trim the spines off if you ask. better quality than the markets tbh, less watery

also try the produce section at tops market in century movie plaza on nut. they sell pre-cut aloe chunks in the cold case near the herbs, like 30 baht for a decent bag. saves you messing with the green skin yourself if you just need the gel

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
