Any pool players in the house?
So, asking out here if any… The last time I visited Bkk, I met with a few people from this sub and played pool with them. It was interesting and enjoyable, but I am not sure if they are still in town.
So, asking out here if anyone's interested in playing some pool with me? I am below amateur level but I am competitive and would love a challenge or friendly match.
(I am 38/male if it matters.)
I've been playing at a place on Soi 63 (Ekkamai) called The Sports Academy. It's more of a bar with a few tables, but the tables are well-maintained and it's usually quiet on weeknights. They charge by the hour too, around 100 baht, and the crowd skews a bit older so you won't feel out of place. If you're down that way, I'm free most evenings after 7 and could use a game.
honestly there's a few spots still active for casual pool. if you're near sukhumvit, check out the pool hall on soi 11, it's above that sports bar and they've got decent tables for like 80 baht an hour. i play there sometimes on weeknights and it's pretty chill, not too crowded.
if you want more of a local vibe, there's a place in ratchada near the big c, they do tournaments sometimes but the regulars are friendly. i'm 34 and not great either so no worries there, it's more about the banter than the skill.
fwiw the old crew might still be around if you dm them, people come and go in bangkok but a lot stick around longer than they expect.
The place on Sukhumvit Soi 11 is solid, but if you're up for a bit of a walk, there's a smaller bar called The Rack on Soi 22 that has an old pool table in the back. It's a bit worn but the owner doesn't mind if you just grab a beer and play for free as long as you're buying drinks. I'm around your age and usually there on weekends if you want a game.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
