I will paying cash.

Is a doctor's prescription/referral required?

TIA

I'd add the Thai Red Cross's King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital to your list, specifically their Savavej Building where the radiology department is. The cash price for a CT scan there runs about 3,500 to 5,000 baht depending on the area being scanned, and they don't push you toward unnecessary extras like private hospitals do. Bring your passport and any old images if you have them, it speeds things up. For walk-in x-rays and ultrasounds, the wait is usually under an hour in the morning before 9am.

Government hospitals are your best bet for cash prices, but you can also check out the radiology departments at places like King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. They have a self-pay counter where you can just walk in and ask for a quote without a referral, though having one from a local doctor makes the process smoother. For an MRI, you're looking at around 8,000 to 12,000 baht compared to 20,000+ at a private hospital. The wait times are longer though, so if you need it done same-day, you might have to accept paying more at somewhere like BNH or Samitivej.

honestly just walk into any government hospital like Siriraj or Ramathibodi, they're way cheaper than private places. you prob don't need a referral but it helps to have one from a doc. cash is fine there.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
