Traveling Bangkok next month, any food and scene recommendations?

I'm Chinese, don't want to follow the Red Book app. Any good food, scene that local people love, and hotel suggestions? Which districts to live or hangout the best?

Btw why the hotel prices are 2 or 3 times higher than before??

honestly for food just wander into any soi with a bunch of thai locals eating, that's how u find the best stuff. for a different vibe than what's been said, try ari district for trendy cafes and small bars, it's chill but not dead. hotel wise check out rattanakosin island area near the river, old school charm without the sukhumvit markup

yeah hotel prices are nuts right now, thailand's been pushing for more luxury tourism so the cheap spots got squeezed out. for food just hit up any street with a night market, yaowarat is the obvious one but a bit touristy now. i'd say check out sukhumvit soi 38 or the old town near banglamphu for more local vibes, lots of good khao man gai and som tam stalls. for scene, try ratchada for late night stuff, it's chaotic but fun. district wise, thonglor if u want trendy

hotel prices jumped cause of the weak baht and post-covid rebound, everyone's coming back at once. for local food skip the tourist spots and go to chinatown's soi nana or the klongs for boat noodles, that's where the real flavor is. scene wise try

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
