Ancient city is 30 mins away from where I am staying. I am staying by Wat Arum and I plan on taking BTS all the way down to Kheha BTS and take a grab from there. Any suggestions or recommendations? I mean its not an actual temple but the architect of the building is quite fascinating.

honestly ancient city is dope but people sleep on how big it is. you'll prob walk like 10km if you try to see everything so rent a bike or golf cart at the entrance, it's like 100 baht for the bike. the replica of wat phra kaew there is surprisingly detailed, almost feels like the real one without the crowds. grab from kheha is fine but if you want to save a bit you can catch the songthaew line that runs past the entrance, just flag it down on the main road

yeah it's worth it if you're into architecture and don't mind the travel time. the whole place is basically a giant outdoor museum with scaled-down replicas of thailand's most famous temples and monuments, so you get a sampler of the whole country in one spot. the grounds are massive, you'll want at least half a day there. bring water and a hat, it gets hot walking between the zones. grab from kheha is smart, it's not walkable from the station. if you're staying by wat arun, you could also take the riverboat to saphan taksin then hop on the bts, might be more scenic than the skytrain the whole way

The river trip is the better call from Wat Arun. Take the orange flag boat from Tha Tien to Sathorn, it's 16 baht and you'll glide past the Grand Palace and Wat Pho from the water. Once you're at Kheha, the Grab is fine but the songthaew runs about 8 baht and drops you right at the gate.

The real secret is renting a golf cart at the entrance, it's 350 baht for the first hour and 150 after that. You'll cover way more ground without melting in that open sun. The replica of the Sukhothai temples in the back section is actually more peaceful than the real historical park up north. Just don't skip the giant fish pond near the southern end, they have these massive catfish that swarm when you buy the 20 baht feed pellets.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
