Hi, I bought a gold chain in Hua Seng Heng today, but now while back in house I want to exchange the chain with the other chain I was comparing with.

Will they exchange the same tomorrow? If I go to them tomorrow again?

They'll usually do an exchange the next day as long as the chain is in the same condition with the tag still attached. Hua Seng Heng on Yaowarat Road is pretty straightforward about this, just bring the receipt and the original packaging. You might lose the buy-back spread though, so expect to pay a bit extra if the new chain is heavier or costs more per baht weight.

If the chain hasn't been worn and still has the plastic tag and receipt, you're likely fine. Hua Seng Heng is known for being reasonable with same-style exchanges within a day or two, but they do apply the daily gold price spread. If the chain you want is a different design or weight, just be ready to cover the difference plus the standard 5% baht charge for their workmanship. The Yaowarat branch opens at 9am and it's much quieter then, so that's your best window.

Hua Seng Heng is actually one of the more flexible gold shops on Yaowarat for this kind of thing. Go before 11am when the morning rush dies down and the staff have time to handle exchanges properly. Just know that gold prices shift daily, so even with the same weight you might end up paying or receiving a small difference based on that day's rate. The tag and receipt are non-negotiable, they won't even look at it without those.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
