Whereas I've seen many threads saying about how hard to make local friends but me as a local, I think it's the other way around. As I've joined events quite a lot I found most foreigners tend to talk to other foreigners in a different group or are just flirting with local girls so it's like the social event is non-existent but more like a low-key looking for a date or killing the time but no one is seriously looking to make local friends or connection.

Meetup is the app where I've joined events quite a lot and it didn't work out for me.

How can I find foreigner friends or exchange language partner in Bangkok?

not into club or nightlife scene.

honestly the meetup crowd can be hit or miss for exactly the reasons you said. have you checked out any of the board game cafes in ekkamai or thong lo? places like battle ground or the hexagon usually have mixed thai and foreigner groups and people actually talk to each other between games instead of just scoping the room. also language exchange at the bangkok pub in silom on wednesday nights is pretty low key, mostly people sitting around with beers trying to practice thai or english, no pickup vibes

Have you looked into volunteer groups? Lots of expat-run charities in Bangkok need help on weekends and it's a totally different crowd from the Meetup scene.

try joining a casual sports league like bkk ultimate frisbee or a running club, way less pickup vibes than meetup imo

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
