Hi there,

I am planning a 3-week trip in Thailand from 22/10/24 to 15/11/2024. I plan to visit Bangok, Chia Mai and Rai and Phuket. I read that local school holiday ends on 1/11/2024. Do you think Bangok malls and kids attractions like Dreamworld will be super busy if I do Bangok in October?

Thank you

honestly the school holiday thing is overhyped for tourists. sure malls like mega bangna or icon siam will have more families on weekends but it's not like you can't move around. dreamworld on a weekday in late october is prob fine, just go when they open at 10am and you'll beat the rush. if you're worried about crowds, skip the big kid spots and hit places like the children's discovery museum or safari world on a tuesday or wednesday, way chiller. also the weather in late october is still kinda rainy so indoor stuff like se life or the new aquarium at siam paragon might be better bets anyway

Yeah October's usually fine for Bangkok, the school break crowds aren't that crazy compared to other times. Dreamworld might have a bit of a wait on weekends but weekdays are totally manageable.

School holidays here usually mean families hit the malls and bigger attractions, so Dreamworld and Siam Paragon's KidZania will be noticeably busier on weekends and the first few days of the break. If you're in Bangkok during late October, you'll still have decent crowds but nothing like the chaos of Songkran or New Year. I'd suggest hitting Dreamworld on a weekday if you can, and for indoor stuff the CentralWorld play areas get packed by midday. You might find the crowds more manageable in Chiang Mai or Phuket that time of year, but Bangkok in October is still fine for most things.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
