Hello,

Wanted to see if there were hotel or restaurant jobs for foreigners. I'm looking for hotel management or restaurant management jobs that would hire foreigners. I'm from U.S. All my experience is in the hospitality industry. I've met chefs who worked in bangkok restaurants/hotel, but haven't met anyone managing restaurants or hotels. I'm not looking for a chef position.

Please don't recommend teaching english or office jobs. Both I know there are opportunities.

honestly your best bet might be the big convention hotels like Centara Grand or Shangri-La, they hire foreign managers pretty regularly for events and F&B. the pay is decent but expect to work long hours for the first year or so

for restaurants, check out the expat-heavy spots on Sukhumvit like Hemingways or The Loft, they've got foreign GMs sometimes. also try reaching out to hotel recruitment agencies like Hospitality Careers Thailand, they place people in those roles

one thing nobody mentions is that Thai labor law requires a certain number of Thai staff per foreign manager, so smaller places just can't swing it. stick to the big boys and you'll be fine

yeah hotel management jobs exist but mostly in the big international chains like Marriott or Hilton, they'll sponsor visas for experienced people. restaurant management is tougher unless it's a high-end place or a western-owned spot, local restaurants usually hire Thai managers

Check if your degree or experience qualifies for a Thai work permit through the BOI smart visa program, luxury hotel groups like Mandarin Oriental use that route sometimes.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
