Thai coffee with the highest caffeine content? (bang for your buck)

I remember looking up the brand and it had a higher caffeine content than Dunkin' Donuts, McDonald's, and other places I'd pass on my morning commute. It was a steal.

What Thai brands sneakily pack the most caffeine in? I remember someone saying that 7/11 coffee does the job. I don't care about taste. Any idea?

honestly for pure caffeine punch, the 7-11 hot coffee in the big plastic cup is hard to beat. the dark roast one specifically, it's like 35 baht and you can feel it in your chest after half an hour

if you want something even stronger, look for any shop selling "oliang" which is thai iced coffee with lots of dark roast grounds mixed in, it's more sediment than actual coffee. some street stalls near bts stations do it super strong, the one under chong nonsi bts has a little cart that charges 25 baht and it's basically caffeine slush

otherwise amazon cafe's black coffee is solid, like 45 baht and they don't skimp on the beans. the 7-11 one is still the cheapest per mg though, i'd stick with that if taste doesn't matter

If you're serious about cutting taste out of the equation, the 7-Eleven black coffee is your baseline. But there's a step up: look for the little foil packets of "Khao Shong Extra Dark" instant coffee at any 7-Eleven. Two of those into a cup of hot water from the dispenser will hit harder than their brewed stuff, and it's around 12 baht for two packets.

Another option is the "Moka Pot" style coffee sold at some of the older Muslim-run stalls around Bang Rak or near the river. They boil the grounds directly in water and pour it through a cloth filter, no milk, no sugar. The one on Charoen Krung Soi 46 does a tiny cup for 20 baht that'll rattle your skull, it's basically unfiltered sediment.

For the absolute cheapest per milligram, you can buy a bag of "Doi Chang" ground coffee at a supermarket, the dark roast bag is about 150 baht. Brew it yourself in a simple cloth filter or even just let it steep in a thermos. That'll give you control over the strength and you can make it so thick it's almost syrupy.

The 7-Eleven dark roast is the standard answer, but the real sleeper is the "Birdy" brand 3-in-1 packets you see everywhere. The ones in the yellow packaging, the "Double Shot" version, have way more caffeine than the regular ones and cost about 5 baht per packet. You can buy a box of 10 at any 7-Eleven for 45 baht and just dump two or three into a cup of hot water.

If you're near an old-school coffee shop in Yaowarat, ask for "kafeh thung." It's brewed through a cloth sock and they let it sit on the grounds for a long time before pouring. The stall on Yaowarat Road near the Odeon Circle does it for 30 baht and it's so thick it leaves a stain on the cup. That's your best bet if you want something that hits harder than the chain stuff without any sweetness or milk.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
