If you're around Sukhumvit, Witches on Soi 22 is a solid mix of chill and social. It's a gay bar but more of a lounge vibe with couches and low music, and the crowd tends to be a lot of expats in their 30s. Another spot is Mikkeller Bar on Ekkamai 10, not a gay bar specifically but the craft beer crowd there is pretty open and I've run into plenty of foreign gay guys just chatting at the counter. For daytime, the Coffee Club on Silom Soi 2 has a quiet upstairs section where people actually talk to each other, unlike the chain cafe vibe you get elsewhere.

honestly silom soi 2 and soi 4 are the obvious picks but they can get loud later at night. if you want chill cafes, try Kaizen coffee near the end of soi 2, it's a small spot where i've seen a fair mix of locals and expats just reading or on their laptops. also the terrace at Balcony Bar on soi 4 is pretty lowkey during the day, good for a beer and people watching without the club vibe. foreigners tend to hang there later afternoon before the drag shows start.

For a more relaxed vibe, check out the rooftop bar at Tropic City on Soi Charoen Krung 44. It's a casual cocktail spot with a mix of locals and expats, and the crowd tends to be friendly without being pushy. Sunday afternoons at The Clubhouse near Sala Daeng BTS are also good, they do brunch and the terrace is quiet enough to chat. If you want a cafe, Sarnies on Charoen Krung has a downstairs area where people often work or read, and I've seen groups of gay expats hanging out there on weekends.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
