Salsa music spots?
honestly Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental is the classic spot for salsa nights, they have live bands on weekends and it's gorgeous inside but drinks are pricey like 400+ baht. if you want something more casual and social check out The Club at Khao San on wednesdays, it's a mixed crowd of locals and travelers and nobody cares if you show up alone. there's also a small underground spot called La Monita near Sukhumvit 49 that does salsa socials every friday, it's more of a dance studio vibe than a club but they're super welcoming to new faces
if you're near Ekkamai, check out Havana Social on saturdays. it's a basement bar hidden behind a phone booth door, kinda gimmicky but the salsa playlist is solid and the floor's big enough to actually move. drinks are around 250 baht, which is decent for that area. also, there's a pop-up thing called Salsa Social that moves around different rooftops in Thong Lo, they post dates on their instagram last I checked, very open to randos showing up solo
La Racha on Soi 11 does a salsa night on thursdays that's way less touristy than the big hotel spots. It's a tiny Cuban place, mostly expats who actually know how to dance, but they're pretty chill about letting beginners hang at the bar and watch.
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
