Please Advise: Can 3 Years of Experience Land Me a Job in Bangkok from Ireland?

I've been working as a Product Owner in a startup for the past two years in Ireland and have a total of three years of experience (including one year as a Project Analyst in India). I have a strong skill set in product management and am looking to relocate to Bangkok for work. My reasons include a deep affinity for Thai culture, my love for the city, and the proximity to my aging parents in India.

I have a few questions:

With three years of experience, is it possible to secure a job in Bangkok?

What kind of salary can I realistically expect?

What would be considered a good salary for someone living alone in Bangkok?

Your guidance on these would really make a difference!

you could try targeting indian companies with thailand offices, they're often more willing to sponsor visas and understand your background. for salary, 90k-110k baht is realistic for a product owner with your years, enough for a nice 1br near the bts and decent savings if you cook sometimes. just be upfront about needing a work permit from the start

Three years is enough if you're targeting the right companies. The product owner role is still fairly new in Bangkok compared to Dublin, so you'll need to frame your startup experience carefully. Emphasize that you've worked with remote or distributed teams, because that's common here and not everyone handles it well.

For salary, 80k to 100k baht is a realistic starting point for a mid-level product role with visa sponsorship. That's around 2,000 to 2,500 euro a month after tax and social security. You'll live comfortably on that in a decent one-bedroom off Sukhumvit, say between On Nut and Ekkamai, where you can get a modern condo for 12k to 18k baht. The rest goes to food, transport, and still some savings if you're not eating at high-end places every night.

One thing nobody has mentioned is the probation period. Most companies here pay 80 to 90 percent of your salary for the first three to four months while they process your work permit. That means your first few paychecks will be tighter than expected. Make sure you have some savings to bridge that gap before you arrive.

yeah three years is doable for product owner roles here, especially with your irish degree and startup experience. tons of tech companies and agencies in bangkok are hiring product folks, though they usually want someone who can hit the ground running in a cross-cultural team. the thai work permit is tied to a minimum salary of 50k baht for a bachelor's, but realistically for your level you'd be looking at 80k-120k baht monthly. that's enough to live well in a decent condo near the bts, eat out daily, and still save a bit if you're not wild with spending. just be ready for a slower visa process and maybe a probation period where you're paid slightly less. check jobsdb and linkedin for openings that explicitly say "work permit provided" to save time

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
